TRAINING PROGRAMMES UNDER INTEGRATED SKILL DEVELOPMENT SCHEME (ISDS)

A Project for implementation of Component-I of ISDS has been sanctioned to IJIRA by the Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India in 2011.

The following training programmes have been planned for next 5 years.

Courses under Progress

Training to jute mill workers / supervisors:

IJIRA has started training newly inducted jute mill workers at machine operator level as well as in supervisors level in different processing departments of a few jute mills in West Bengal to develop a base of skilled workforce to improve both productivity and quality of products. The courses offered were in the following subjects:

Jute Selection to Batching Winding
Carding Sizing and Beaming
Drawing Weaving
Spinning and Twisting Modern Development

Training to dyers in handloom sector:

A course on Scouring, Bleaching and Dyeing on cotton and silk yarns is being conducted for dyers in handloom sectors at Shantipur, West Bengal and  Guwahati , Assam. The objective of the course is to impart both theoretical and practical training to workers to produce uniform and fast dyed handloom fabrics for the competitive domestic and export market.

Training on Garment Manufacturing:

The course on Readymade Garment Manufacturing has been started by IJIRA North Eastern Regional Centre at Guwahati. The course has been designed for operators of basic and specialized stitching machines for manufacture of all types of readymade garments for men, women and children.

The course has received good response from Assam and other north eastern states and it is expected to help growth of garment industries in the region to capture a fair share of the growing market in India.

Preparation of Resource Materials

Resource Materials in the form of books and manuals have been prepared for all the above courses in Bengali and Assamese. The translation of the books in Hindi language is under progress.

Assessment and Certification

There is an assessment of trainees after completion of training and Certificate are issued to all successful trainees.

 
TRAINING FACILITY AT IJIRA

IJIRA is having long experience of conducting various training programmes in the past on various topics for industry and public sector organizations. Over the past three decades, IJIRA has imparted training in various jute related courses such as spinning, weaving, chemical processing, quality testing and diversified products to over 50000 trainees.

IJIRA is having in-house qualified and experienced staff for conducting the training programmes. The expertise acquired through consultancy on several projects is also deployed in the training programmes. In addition, outside experts in the fields of specialization are utilized for the training.

Training infrastructure like classrooms and auditoriums are available in IJIRA headquarters in Kolkata and also in IJIRA North Eastern Regional Centre at Guwahati. Training equipment like multimedia projectors and other audio-visual aids are also available in both the above locations.

Apart from theoretical classes, Practical training on relevant topics are imparted in well-equipped pilot plants for mechanical and chemical processing of jute and allied fibres as well as on garment manufacturing. The state-of-the-art laboratory equipment available for testing physical, chemical and biological parameters are also made available during practical training.

Tailor-made training modules can be formulated depending on the requirement of end users of such programme. In addition to in-house training courses, training programmes are also conducted at various locations to benefit the trainees in a particular cluster.
